Reeva Steenkamp's family slam Oscar Pistorius movie trailer

The trailer for a movie based on Oscar Pistorius' life has left many people fuming, including Reeva Steenkamp's family. 

Lifetime Productions, a US-based company, released the biopic's trailer on Monday. 

The film, titled 'Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer', is due for release in America in November. 

It's still unclear when it will hit South African screens. 

The trailer has already caused controversy. 

Reeva's family released a statement shortly after its release stating that they did not endorse the film.  

The movie is allegedly told from Reeva's mother, June Steenkamp's perspective, but the family say they were not even consulted.

“Any impression that is created that this is June’s view, or that the movie is endorsed by the Steenkamp family, is untrue and incorrect,” they said in a statement.

Oscar Pistorius' family has also threatened to take legal action.

Oscar is serving six years behind bars following his 2015 murder conviction for shooting Reeva on Valentine's Day in 2013. 

He claimed he believed she was an intruder. The State is expected to appeal the "shockingly low" murder-sentence in November.

The movie will be released on November 11, just over a week after the State heads to court. 

The role of Oscar is played by South African-born actor Andreas Damm, who moved to New York in 2005. Reeva's role is played by German model Toni Garrn.

Many have slammed the actors for their bad South African accents, while some questioned why local actors weren't used.

Others criticised the movie for being in poor taste all together.
