Priyanka Chopra admits she was shocked when Nick Jonas proposed after two months
Her whirlwind romance with Nick Jonas shocked her fans, but Priyanka Chopra says she relinquished control and went with the flow.
Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas have been married for more than two years. Many did not believe they would last a year let alone two.
The couple’s short romance made headlines in 2018 when Nick got down on one knee after just two months of dating.
Their critics also questioned their 10 year age gap.
Priyanka said they had been sporadically meeting for two years before their romance developed in May 2018.
But she was just as shocked as the rest of the world when Nick proposed in July that year - one day after her birthday.
“I didn’t expect the proposal at that point... It was two months! I thought it would happen, but it was still a complete shock. [But] I relinquished control and I just went with it,” she told Elle UK.
The 38-year-old added that she loves her husband’s confidence.
“One thing to know about my husband is that when he makes up his mind, he’ll get what he wants! When he knows, he knows. There’s such a sublime confidence to it that you can’t help but be like, ‘OK.’”
Priyanka and Nick tied-the-knot in December 2018.
Despite their busy schedules, she says they try to see each other every three weeks.
“Wherever we are in the world, we fly to each other at least once a month for a couple of days. It was our rule when we first got married. Otherwise we’d never see each other.”
