Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Jesse Williams give Trevor Noah a 'heartfelt goodbye'

'The Daily Show' has shared a heartfelt video that shows some of America's high-profile figures bidding a final farewell to Trevor Noah.

The South African comedian hosted his last show on Thursday, December 8, after seven years at the helm. Oprah Winfrey has joined several stars in praising the 38-year-old for a job well done. 

"You were able to talk to us through some of the most challenging and historic moments of our lives," the 'Queen of Talk' said.

Former First Lady, Hillary Clinton, thanked Trevor for "getting us through some bad times". Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, also had a few words for Mzansi's golden boy.

"You should be so proud of the work you've done over these past seven years," he said. 

'Grey's Anatomy' star Jesse Williams and actor Nick Offerman also thanked Trevor for being with viewers during difficult times such as COVID-19. 

"At the end of a long day, having you there to make us laugh and inform us, it meant the world," Nick said. 

Bill Gates, Issa Rae, and Tracee Ellis Ross also featured in the farewell video. 

"Can't wait to see what's next," Tracee said.

What's next for Trevor Noah?

Trevor, who was recently spotted chilling with David Beckham and Didier Drogba at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, will focus on doing more stand-up comedy shows in 2023. 

When he announced in September that he was leaving 'The Daily Show', Trevor said the pandemic made him realise how much he missed travelling all over the world. 

"We have laughed together, we have cried together. But after seven years, I feel like it’s time... I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road. Stand-up was done, and when I got back out there again, I realised that there’s another part of my life that I want to carry on exploring," he said. 

Trevor has a jam-packed line-up for 2023. He has dozens of stand-up shows taking place in America in the first six months of the year. He then heads to South Africa in August for the ‘Savanna Presents Trevor Noah Live in SA’ tour. He'll be making stops in Durban, Cape Town, and Pretoria. 

The 'Son of Patricia' star will then return to America before heading to the UK. He has shows planned until December 2023.
