January saw scores of people rushing to the gym to sign up for new memberships after the Festive Season.
But sticking to a workout routine is easier said than done. Studies show that 72% of people who set fitness goals at the beginning of the year don’t see them though.
If you need some inspiration to stay on track, then look no further than these fitness-loving celebrities.

Amanda du-Pont’s guide to a flat tummy
When she’s not in front the camera or hard at work on her business ventures, you can find Amanda du-Pont in the gym. The actress loves to workout and often shares pictures and videos from her gym sessions.
One of the hardest places to lose weight is your tummy and Amanda’s number one secret for a toned stomach is to do at least 100 sit ups a day.
“If you can fit in 10 to 15 minutes a day of ab workouts, you’ll start to see the difference. I’m not saying you’ll get ripped immediately but you’ll get some definition” she told True Love magazine in 2017. Her diet is also important. She avoids refined carbs and sugary foods.

Do whatever it takes to get it done like Kate Hudson
‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ star Kate Hudson enjoys variety when it comes to her workout routines. Pilates to weight training - she loves switching up her exercises to make her workouts more fun.
And on the days when her routines get to too tough, she motivates herself by dancing between sets.
“Get it done however you know how,” the 43-year-old wrote on Instagram.

Staying fit at 50+ like Connie Ferguson
Connie Ferguson doesn’t let her age hold her back when it comes to her fitness. The 52-year-old does intense workouts like high-intensity interval training (HIIT). She does 1,000 skips and a 40-minute intense body conditioning workout in one session. Connie also enjoys working out for her mental health.
“Exercise is good for so many different reasons, but the reason I commit even when I don’t feel like it, is because of its effect on my mental health! It’s been years that I’ve been off antidepressants, and even in the most challenging times, I managed to stay off. Wake up, PRAY, exercise and go about your day,” she wrote on Instagram.

Set goals like Candice Abrahams
Former Mrs South Africa Candice Abrahams was determined to get her body in the best shape ever before turning 40.
“Always up for a challenge and taking my body to new levels, I’ve been working with my coach to keep it lean and gain more muscle. I’ve learnt so much about the human body and my body on this journey & honestly feel so good!” the mother of two captioned a picture of her amazing results.
She had a vision for how she wanted to look and never gave up on her goal.
“It’s so amazing what the body can do and how it reacts when you put your head in the game, keep focused and stay aligned with your goals.”

Make exercising part of your daily routine like Priyanka Chopra
Actress and entrepreneur Priyanka Chopra reportedly works out for one hour four days a week. But she doesn’t put too much pressure on herself to do hardcore exercises. She has found ways to incorporate exercises into her daily routine. She takes her dog for a walk with her friends and enjoys going for a swim.
“I also love swimming, it’s a full-body workout and I’ll try to do 10 laps continuously,” she revealed in one interview.

Dust yourself off and try again after falling off the wagon like Pearl Thusi
‘Queen Sono’ star Pearl Thusi recently revealed that she gained four kilograms during the Festive Season after losing 10 kg in the first half of 2022. Most of it went to her thighs and stomach. But Pearl is not letting the weight gain get her down. Instead, she’s heading back to the gym and taking it one step at a time.
“Finally, back at the gym… 4 kilograms heavier. I’m feeling super motivated! I’m so proud of my body. Usually, I would go through a period of self-loathing and over work my body to punish myself. But this time I am using positive language and making small sustainable changes, ” she captioned a vide of her gym routine.

Do adopt Ashley Graham’s body-positive attitude
Plus size model Ashley Graham is breaking stereotypes associated with her workout routine.
“People think that bigger women don’t maintain their bodies, and honestly, it's the other way around, I try to eat very healthily and exercise three to five times a week,” she told Vogue.
Ashley enjoys yoga, strength training, and cardio. She says working out makes her feel good.
“I'm always so glad after I leave the gym. Like, 'I'm so proud of you, Ashley. I have that quick 'congratulations' to myself because it's a good reminder to me to keep going,” Women’s Health quoted her as saying.

Eat right like Unathi Nkayi
Media personality Unathi Nkayi practically lives at the gym. She began her weight loss journey a decade ago and lost a whopping 28 kilograms. She has kept the weight off ever since. Aside from regular visits to the gym, Unathi credits a good diet with helping her maintain her weight.
“You always ask me to share what I eat and as imperfect as I am in that aspect I do know you cannot gym out a bad diet. I try to eat clean most of the week. I try to eat things that are as close to their origin as possible as found on earth,” she wrote on Instagram in 2022.
Uanthi says she opts for foods like sweet potato, potato, and rice as her carb options and avoids pasta and bread.

Start with walking like Rebel Wilson
Working out in nature can help you enjoy your workouts a lot more. Just ask actress Rebel Wilson. She lost over 30 kilograms!
She attended a weight loss retreat and followed the Mayr method diet programme. But she started her weight loss journey making small changes like going for a walk.
“An Austrian doctor said ‘Rebel, the best way for you to lose unwanted body fat is just simply walking. Doesn't have to be high-intensity, doesn't have to be uphill, just moderate walking an hour a day. And if you can do that, for you, for your body type, it's, like, the best way to lose unwanted body fat.'" he added.
