Kgothatso was a fan favourite during last year's Miss SA competition. KZN's Lalela Mswane was crowned the winner.
Kgothatso stood out during the pageant because of a prominent white mark on her face.
While many thought the mark was caused by a skin condition known as vitiligo, the law student clarified in an interview that it is actually a birthmark.
"When I was at school, I used to get bullied verbally, I was called all sorts of names – people used to say how my birthmark looked like an African map," she told YOU magazine.
The experience inspired Kgothatso to become a mental health activist. She also decided to enter the Miss SA competition for the second time in 2021, after finishing in the top 5 in 2019.
"I have seen how bullying and cyberbullying is rapidly increasing in our country, which leads to a lot of suicide and mental health issues. Being someone who was bullied I know what that feels like. I took a different route and I want the nation to see themselves in me. A story of a beautiful young girl who was bullied and committed suicide because she could not take it anymore has urged me to enter Miss South Africa once again," she said in a Miss SA interview.
Kgothatso is looking forward to the new chapter in her life - becoming a mom. She can barely contain her excitement and has shared several other pictures of her baby bump on Instagram.
