Maps Maponyane addresses Boity engagement rumours

The Twitter streets were buzzing with news this week that Maps Maponyane was officially off the market. 

According to the residents of Twitterville, the TV presenter and actor proposed to his close friend, Boity Thulo. 

The hashtag, #BoityEngagedByMaps, started trending. 

"It has finally happened," one tweep wrote. 

Some claimed they saw the engagement coming, claiming the "friends" often exchange "flirty" messages online. 

"They were showing us the Signs but we ignored them," one Twitter user wrote.

But the engagement was news to Maps' ears. 

"Y'all are ridiculous. Imagine you're minding your own business, and logging on to find out you're engaged!?" he wrote on Twitter.

Clearly people are getting very bored during the lockdown.

Though, to be fair, Maps and Boity's engagement news was not hard to believe. 

The famous friends have been romantically linked in the past. Maps caused a stir in April last year when he posted a picture he took at Boity's house in the early hours of the morning. 

He visited his sick friend to see how she was doing. But their fans were convinced he stayed the night and captured the image the next morning. 

Maps called the rumours "silly".
