The live-action remake of 'The Lion King' broke box office records when it was released in June - and Disney has another treat in store for moviegoers.

The Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria will host a special screening of the movie in December.

'The Lion King Live In Concert' will bring live music and film together for a three-day-only event.

Members of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra will perform songs from the film's original soundtrack while the movie is being screened.

John Kani, who voices Rafiki in the 2019 version, gave Disney fans a taste of what they can expect.

"Imagine 13 meters squared screen in an 8 000 seater, the screen lights up, 'The Lion King' is playing and suddenly you hear ‘Nansi ingwenyama, bakithi baba’. That is the unique experience, you don’t want to miss," he told IOL
