Leonardo DiCaprio producing new series based on SA author's book

Lauren Beukes' bestselling book, 'The Shining Girls', is being adapted for a new Apple series.
Award-winning author Lauren Beukes is beside herself with excitement following news that her book, 'The Shining Girls', is being turned into a series that will be produced by Leonard DiCaprio.
Elisabeth Moss, who South Africans will recognise from 'The Handmaid's Tale', will produce and star in the adaptation.
According to Deadline, Apple won a "competitive" bidding process for the rights to 'Shining Girls'. The series has been in development since late 2019, but will likely only begin shooting in 2021.
Lauren, who is listed as one of the executive producers, took to Twitter to share the news.

Lauren's latest book, 'Afterland', is also creating major buzz.
"In a future where most of the men are dead, Cole and her twelve-year-old son Miles are on the run from the most dangerous person she knows … her sister," a synopsis of the book reads.
'Afterland' will hit book shelves in America next week.
