The woman who has played Hope Williams since 1983 will be bidding farewell to Salem for good.
More than three decades after making her debut on 'Days of our Lives', Kristian Alfonso will be leaving the popular soapie to write the "next chapter" of her life.
The 56-year-old took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that she shot her last scenes as Hope Williams Brady several months ago.
Production on the long-running soapie is expected to resume on September 1 without her. The soapie was renewed for a 56th season in November.
Kristian says 'Days' has been a "vital part" of her personal and professional lives, but the time has come to say goodbye.
"I have built some lifelong friendships with my extraordinarily talented castmates. ‘Days’ has one of the hardest working crews in all of television, many of whom have become part of my extended family. I feel blessed and honored to have been invited into people’s homes for over three decades," she wrote.
The actress added that she feels "blessed and honoured to have been invited into people’s homes".
"To the incredibly loyal fans of ‘Days,’ many of you have been with me on this journey from the beginning. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, love and support. I could not have done it without YOU!!!"

Kristian's character Hope is most known for her love affair with Bo Brady. Hope has had her fair share of drama on the soapie.
She once returned from the dead as a princess named Gina. Her work as a detective at Salem Police Department saw her taking one of the soapie's biggest villains - Stefano DiMera.
Kristian has clocked more than 4,000 episodes on the long-running soapie. She has been nominated for several awards for her role.
