'Game of Thrones' fans are demanding a season eight remake after slamming "incompetent" writers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.
A petition to remake season eight of 'Game of Thrones' is gaining more momentum after the series finale aired on Sunday night.
Fans are fuming mad and calling on HBO to give them the final season they deserve.
Many feel GoT writers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss rushed the season - destroying carefully developed character arcs and advancing plots too quickly, leaving viewers feeling underwhelmed.

The petition was started as a joke, but outraged fans quickly got onboard. It has already received over one million signatures on Change.org.
"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on. This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!" the petition read.
While most South Africans will only get to watch the final episode later tonight, many woke up in the wee hours of Monday morning to watch the finale along with the rest of the world.
The episode received mixed reviews and reignited calls for a total do-over:

Last 3 episodes of @GameOfThrones were really underwhelming. I think the writers missed a trick by building up the crescendo (the battle with the undead) too soon. There was no way but downhill from there. Just goes to show how important the Night King was, as a worthy adversary.

David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are unbothered by all the fan hate, as they kind of expected it.
"We’ll be in an undisclosed location, turning off our phones and opening various bottles," D. B. Weiss told EW about what they would be doing when the final episode airs.
The writers, who also created the show, will now be working on the next project, a new 'Star Wars' trilogy.

A petition has also been started begging Disney to remove them from the project.
"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be not only incompetent writers when they lack source material, but also eager to leave projects half-finished when they have other projects on the horizon. Their respect of lore alone does not make them fit for this project. There are plenty of talented writers and producers loyal to the franchise that would make much better work in the Star Wars Universe. Subvert our expectations, Disney!" the petition reads.
