Father charged $40 for skin-to-skin contact with son

An American man got a big surprise when he got his wife’s hospital bill following the delivery of their son.
The Utah dad almost couldn’t believe his eyes when he noticed he had been charged for skin-to-skin contact with his son Samuel after his wife had a c-section.
The hospital charged Ryan Grassley $39,35 (R540) for the contact, which studies have found is important for babies immediately after birth.
Despite having an amazing delivery experience at the hospital, the 37-year-old told the New York Daily News that he had a good laugh about the charge with his wife Lidia.
They decided to share the image on Reddit, which has now gone viral.

He also setup a GoFundMe account as a joke to raise the funds “to pay off this ‘ridiculous’ fee”
“I posted the bill to Reddit because I thought it was funny. It has been interesting to see the shock from people around the world at the cost of medical expenses in the USA,” Ryan said in a post on his GoFundMe account.
Ryan was able to raise the money within 10 hours, but had other plans for any extra money he receives.
“Any money donated over the $39.35 will be put towards a vasectomy because I never want to go through these sleepless new baby nights again,” he said.
