Dr Malinga denies buying a McLaren
Updated | By Poelano Malema
"Even if I had the money, I wouldn't buy that car now" - Dr Malinga has responded to rumours that he used the money he received as donations to buy a car worth millions.
Dr Malinga has found himself trending again after a video of him driving a McLaren went viral on social media.
Malinga posted himself in a R5-million McLaren playing his latest single, 'Ngiyabonga Nkosi'.
This led to many social media users accusing Malinga of using money he received from donations to live a luxurious life.
In September, Dr Malinga made headlines after he opened up about his financial woes on 'Podcast and Chill with MacG', revealing that he owed SARS R500,000 and his stuff has been repossessed.

After his emotional interview, scores of social media users and celebrities donated money to him.
Malinga has set the record straight saying the car he used in the video he posted does not belong to him.
“It's not my car, it's just a video. I never wrote that the car is mine. It's my friend's car, not my car," he told Tshisa Live
He added that a McLaren is not even in his plans.
"For now, I cannot afford such a car. Even if I had the money I wouldn't buy that car now. That car is too small for me, I love big cars. Buying a McLaren for me is the last resort,” he told the publication.
“I think the song is what misled them because I'm thanking God. They might have thought I was thanking God for the car."
The 'Petronella' hitmaker went on to explain what he did with some of the donations he received.
“The money that they donated helped a lot, I paid R100,000 to Sars and now I am getting booked and getting the booking money ... You don't help people and expect them not to grow. Though some will say cars are not investment, sometimes it's an investment in your happiness.
“Some people are just acting like they invested. Those that are giving me backlash are the people that didn't contribute at all, they just like fighting. And even if I bought it, sometimes when you donate, you donate for someone to grow not to kill him,.” he told the publication.
