Demi Lovato is “proud” to come out as non-binary “after a lot of healing and self-reflective work”
Demi Lovato is the latest high-profile star to come out as non-binary.
The singer will now use the pronouns, they/them. Non-binary is a term used to describe someone who does not identify as male or female.
They consider themselves to be genderfluid. Demi opened up about coming out as non-binary on Wednesday.
“I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths & know I am sending so much love your way,” the 28-year-old star tweeted.
The ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ hitmaker added in a separate post:
“This has come after a lot of healing & self-reflective work. I’m still learning & coming into myself, & I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me.”

Several stars have opened up about being genderfluid in the past few years.
Sam Smith started using they/them in 2019.
“After a lifetime of being at war with my gender I've decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out.
“I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but f**k it!” Sam wrote in an Instagram post.
Elliot Page identifies as transgender but also calls himself non-binary.
The ‘Juno’ star came out as transgender in December last year.
"I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I've been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community,” the actor wrote in a statement.
