Copyright case for Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' single dropped

Court is no longer in session...
Country singer Andy Stone, aka Vince Vance, has dropped his lawsuit against Mariah Carey which he had filed in June at the New Orleans Federal Court .
According to BBC, Stone sued Mariah because he claimed to have co-written a song with the same name five years earlier and the 'Hero' hitmaker did not ask for permission to use the song name. This is despite so many other artists such as Fifth Harmony, Olivia Olson, and Lindsey Stirling having songs with the same name.
However, in a turn of events, Stone has now decided to have the case dismissed.

'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is one of the biggest songs ever released by Mariah.
It comes from Mariah's album, 'Merry Christmas', which was released 1994.
Since its release, it has become a Christmas anthem and continues to gain popularity each holiday season.
It has topped charts all over the globe.
According to BBC, it has been streamed over one-billion times on Spotify and earns Mariah more than $60-million (approximately R1-billion) in royalties.
