Cheating Scandals of 2022: Matthew Booth’s cheesecake, Olivia Wilde’s salad & many broken hearts

Affairs are common in the entertainment industry but the cheating scandals that come out of Celebville never cease to amaze to us. 

Just when you think things can't get crazier, along comes cheesecake-gate, a special salad dressing, and a doppelganger to spice things up.

Here's a look at some of the celebrity cheating scandals that made headlines in 2022.

Sonia Booth exposes Matthew Booth

Retired footballer Matthew Booth became tabloid fodder in 2022 when his wife, Sonia Booth, spilled the tea on Instagram about his alleged extramarital affair. She shared receipts, including screenshots and videos, to back up her claims that the former Bafana Bafana 'White Knight' was having an affair with a woman named Bongani Mthombeni-Möller. 

The icing on the cake - or should we say cheesecake - was Sonia claiming that Matthew made his alleged mistress a cheesecake the night before their son's birthday. The family allegedly woke up to find Matthew and the cheesecake MIA. Even more upsetting? Her precious cake carrier Tupperware was also missing. Sonia wasted no time driving to the woman's house to collect her Tupperware. 

"I would have let this one slide too, until I realised my cake carrier Tupperware was at her house. You don't mess with a township girl and her Tupperware!" she wrote. 

Matthew denied his wife's "unfounded" cheating claims but is yet to share his "restaurant quality" cheesecake recipe.

Olivia Wilde makes Harry Styles her famous salad - allegedly 

Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde's relationship was the talk of Hollywood in 2022. Their new movie, 'Don't Worry Darling', was finally released in September but all anyone could talk about was the drama happening behind the scenes. Olivia started dating the singer shortly after splitting from her fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, in November 2020. The actress and director was spotted holding hands with Harry in January 2021 - leading many to believe that he was the reason for their split. 

Harry and Olivia became close while working on 'Don't Worry Darling'. The 'As It Was' hitmaker was cast in the film in September 2020 when Shia LaBeouf pulled out of the film. All eyes were on Harry and Olivia while they did press tours for the movie, which received a 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.  Naturally, talk of their alleged affair was back in the spotlight. Olivia and Jason's former nanny made new claims in October 2022 about their relationship.

She alleged that Olivia broke up with Jason weeks after she started shooting with Harry. Jason allegedly found out about their romance after reading text messages on Olivia's Apple watch.  “'He was just out of control crying. I didn't know what to say. He was just crying and crying and saying he was going to get her back and he loved her. He was so brokenhearted – I felt for him,” the nanny told the Daily Mail.

The nanny claimed Jason was left heartbroken and furious after he found Olivia in the kitchen making a salad with her “special dressing” for Harry.

“The night she left with her salad, Jason had chased after her, videotaping her in the house. She was saying: 'I'm scared of you, Jason, I'm scared of you'. And he said: 'If you're scared of me, why are you leaving your kids with me'?' So then, Jason went outside and lay under her car so she wouldn't leave. She got in her car to back up, he lay under her car so she wouldn't leave,” the nanny alleged. 

The internet went crazy over the "special" salad dressing. Olivia, unlike Matthew Booth, happily shared a recipe on her Instagram Stories. But the drama reached its climax when news broke that Olivia and Harry broke up in November.

Elton Jantjies, Zeenat Simjee and the "doppelganger" 

Springbok player, Elton Jantjies, was involved in one of the most bizarre cheating scandals of 2022. Elton, who has three children with his wife Iva Ristic, was accused of having an affair with the team's dietician, Zeenat Simjee, in September. The pair - who were in Argentina when the story broke - were sent home to South Africa to "attend to these personal reports and to eliminate any distractions to the team's preparations for the Test against Argentina".

Elton later admitted to the affair but Zeenat continued to deny the allegations and claimed - through her lawyer - that the woman he was having an extramarital relationship with was not her but a doppelganger.

"This is a case of mistaken identity. She wasn’t there. Someone said at that time it was her, but it wasn’t,” her lawyer, Frikkie Erasmus, told Beeld. The lawyer added that they apparently know the identity of the alleged lookalike, but declined to reveal a name. 

Elton's wife labelled Zeenat a clown for claiming a woman that looks like her is the mistress in question.

Adam Levine wanted to name his baby after his mistress?

Adam Levine and his wife, Namibian model Behati Prinsloo, confirmed in September 2022 that they were expecting baby number three. Two weeks later, an Instagram model named  Sumner Stroh dropped a bombshell. Sumner - with screenshot evidence  - claimed that she had been having a physical relationship with the Maroon 5 singer for months. 

She said she stopped talking to him and was shocked when he messaged her to ask an interesting question. "Ok serious question. I'm having another baby and if it's [a] boy I really wanna name it Sumner. You ok with that? DEAD serious," the 'Beautiful Mistakes' singer allegedly wrote. 

Yes, you read right, Adam allegedly wanted to name his unborn baby after the woman he was allegedly having an affair with. Adam denied her cheating claims, but admitted he "crossed a line". He made it clear his family was sticking together. 

"I take full responsibility. We will get through it and we will get through it together," he said in a statement.

Ne-Yo's wife claims she shared him with "numerous women" 

Ne-Yo and Crystal Smith renewed their wedding vows in April 2022 - three months later it all came to a crashing end. Crystal shocked their fans when she announced she had unknowingly been sharing her husband with "numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected". 

"8 Years. 8 Years of lies and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected.. every last one of them! To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is [an] understatement," she wrote on Instagram. 

Ney-Yo and Crystal got married in February 2016. Four years later, they announced they were getting a divorce. But they had a change of heart and gave their relationship a second chance.  But once a cheater - allegedly - always a cheater!
