Chaka Khan apologises for shading Mariah Carey, Adele, Mary J Blige

Askies... Chaka Khan didn't mean all those mean things she said about some of her music peers.
Chaka Khan is backtracking on the comments she made about Mary J Blige, Adele, and Mariah Carey.
The 69-year-old made headlines last week after she went off on the singers during an interview with Andrew Goldman on 'The Originals' podcast.
She was reacting to Rolling Stone magazine's updated 'Greatest Singers of All Time' list. Chaka Khan ranked #29 on the list behind Mary (#25), Adele (#22), and Mariah (#5).
The 'Woman Like Me' hitmaker implied that Mariah's position was secured with "payola" and declared, "OK, I quit", after hearing what position Adele placed.
Not only did she dismiss her "friend" Mary's ranking, but she also noted that she did not like the singer's cover of her song, 'Sweet Thing'.
"I told Mary J. Blige she f***ed it up. Number one, her vocals were flat," she said on the podcast.

But it looks like Chaka Khan has had a change of heart. She took to Instagram to say sorry for her harsh words.
"Recently, I was asked about a list of the 'greatest singers of all time' and instead of questioning the need for such a list, I was pitted against other artists and I took the bait. As artists, we are unfairly put into ‘boxes’, ‘categories’ or on ‘lists.’ Being an artist or musician is not a competition. It’s a gift, for which I am truly grateful," she wrote.
Chaka Khan added she did not mean to cause any pain or upset anyone.
"To anyone that felt this way, I sincerely apologize."
The 10-time Grammy Award winner also thanked her fans for loving her unconditionally.
"I have always been about empowering others and I started a foundation for that very purpose. I will be announcing soon. Empowering all artists is most important because we truly are the architects of change...and change begins within the heart. I love you all and God bless," she concluded.
