Cassper Nyovest says #FillUpMosesMabhida left him in huge debt

Thousands of screaming fans filled up Moses Mabhida Stadium last weekend to see Cassper Nyovest in action, but the rapper says the show left him in big debt. 

The 'Tito Mboweni' hitmaker says sponsors let him down at the last minute. 

Speaking to SABC News this week, Cassper revealed the exact figure that was lost.

"Most often we find ourselves in positions where we need funding, we need sponsorships, from institutions like the government and we were not supported like we should be. For instance, we just came from (Moses) Mabhida (Stadium) and right now we are sitting with R7-million debt," he said.

The Sunday after the show, Cassper said he was having a "bittersweet morning".

"Knowing that we lost millions due to the lack of sponsorship and broken promises breaks my heart. But knowing that 100,000s of people are inspired makes my life. Would I do it again? Hell yeah! It’ll take me awhile to make the money back but the feeling is priceless!" he tweeted.

Despite the challenges, Cassper managed to pull off a successful concert. He also went on to steal the show at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 concert one day later.

He trended on Twitter worldwide and debuted his new single with Chris Martin, 'Timbuktu', at the festival.

All his hard work is certainly paying off.
