The road to recovery has been "long, difficult, and so painful" for the princess.
Princess Charlene of Monaco is slowly returning back to her royal duties after a health scare that kept her out of action for nearly a year.
The 44-year-old attended the Monte-Carlo Fashion Awards with her daughter, Princess Gabriella, on Tuesday. The outing was a special day for the princess and the seven-year-old.
"I loved every moment preparing my Princess for her first official event. We’re looking forward to a great evening at the fashion awards," Princess Charlene captioned a picture on her official Instagram page.
The princess returned to Monaco recently after receiving treatment outside of the sovereign city-state. She had spent most of 2021 out of the public eye.
Charlene suffered complications from an ear, nose, and throat surgery while visiting South Africa in May last year. She spent months in KwaZulu-Natal before finally returning to Monaco in November.
But just days later, her husband Princess Albert announced that she would be seeking further treatment.

Speaking to Monaco Matin at the Monte-Carlo Fashion Awards, Charlene revealed that her recovery was "painful".
The mom of two says she is still "fragile" after undergoing treatment for her health issues, but is doing much better.
"When I returned to the Principality, I focused all my energy on my children, my husband and my health because they are my priority. My state of health is still fragile and I don't want to go too fast. The road has been long, difficult and so painful. Today I feel calmer," she told the publication.

Princess Charlene and Princess Gabriella had a fun night at the awards.
"This mother-daughter fashion outing for the Monte-Carlo Fashion Awards delighted me and for the first time we went on stage together. She wasn't nervous at all, rather amused and she could have even put on a show on stage!" she told Monaco Matin, according to E!.
