British media slam Trevor Noah over King Charles remarks
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Trevor is getting a lot of flak from the British for his "tasteless" remarks.
South African comedian Trevor Noah is not one to shy away from controversial topics that sometimes rub people up the wrong way.
This time the 38-year-old 'Daily Show' host has come under fire for some comments he made about Britain's new monarch, King Charles III.
The 73-year-old was crowned king after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died on September 8 at the age of 96.
All eyes have been on King Charles ever since. He has hit the ground running, making numerous public appearances in honour of his mother.
However, the new king has raised a few eyebrows on more than one occasion with behaviour that has led some to call him a "spoilt brat".
In one incident, King Charles expressed frustration when a pen he was using started to leak during an engagement at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.
"I can't bear this bloody thing! Every stinking time," he can be heard saying. The incident occurred a few days after the royal "furiously" - according to some - signalled for an aide to remove a pen box and inkwell that was in his way while he was signing the Accession Proclamation.
Many people have come to his defence, saying that he has just lost his mother and has had to do numerous engagements with a smile on his face.
"Leave King Charles III alone! He hasn't had a minute to grieve. After seeing him on the television earlier, anyone can see that he's a broken man," one Twitter user wrote.

This is why I don’t stand for these people. King Charles spoilt brat, has tiny hissy fit when peasant won’t move his pen tray. #AbolishTheMonarchy pic.twitter.com/rsBKR9ZBYE

Trevor weighed in on #pengate - yes, that is what people are calling it - with a few thoughts of his own.
"It's going to take a lot of work to shape the monarchy into something that everyone can get behind. But based on his first week in power, looks like King Charles isn't the guy to do it," he told the audience.
The Emmy Award winner questioned if King Charles was the right man for the job.
"I love how Charles says the pens leak on him all the time. You're literally the King of England, dude! If you don't like the pens, get different pens. I'm not an expert in the monarchy, but I'm pretty sure the hierarchy doesn't go: Prince William, King Charles and then the guy who buys the pens."
However, Trevor admitted that he does "feel kind of bad" for the king - well, not exactly.
"Maybe King Charles is just stressed out right now. Maybe that's why this is happening because becoming king is a lot of pressure. I mean, there's like 15 different forks to memorise and you have to sleep with that crown on - that's not comfortable," he joked.

The Daily Mail labelled Trevor a "profane South African comedian", while scores of social media users called his comments tasteless.
"Trevor Noah bowing down and kissing the ass of the American media. He’s a sell out. I have never once watched his show have no plans to," one Twitter user wrote.
Another tweep commented: "I'm no fan of royalty or Charles, but Trevor Noah is a pain in the arse..."
A third person wrote: "@Trevornoah Charles is grieving what is wrong with that? Also you don’t know him ; you only know what media says! I have personally met him over the years and I can tell you he is going to be a great King but by golly - let the man grieve!"
I’m a bit disappointed in Trevor Noah using Paul Burrell to get laughs at King Charles’ expense.

Considering Burrell is a butler, he’s spent more of his life serving himself.
did you hear what @Trevornoah said about the Queen and King Charles? Another filthy woke parasite

Trevor Noah's take on king Charles was hilarious. Btw don't these royals have a last name like everybody else?

Here's Trevor Noah's headlines for Wednesday. Some pretty funny stuff on the Royal family, but the last minute had my wife and myself nearly rolling on the floor. Enjoy...https://t.co/i4p5FRUTLf
