Black Coffee reveals new details about his split from Enhle Mbali
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
"I sent a lengthy email to her in which I suggested that we should separate,” says Black Coffee.
Nkosinathi 'Black Coffee' Maphumulo's attempt to clarify a few things about his separation from his soon-to-be ex-wife Enhle Mbali has backfired.
The award-winning DJ chatted to the City Press recently to discuss the end of their nearly decade long marriage.
Several rumours have been spreading like wildfire, including claims that the 'Lalala' hitmaker fathered two children, aged 14 months old and 12 months old, outside of his marriage.
Black Coffee did not confirm nor deny the claims - for legal reasons - but he did share new details about how their fairy tale romance came to an end.
“In April this year, I sent a lengthy email to her in which I suggested that we should separate, and she should find a place to stay with the kids and I would pay for it. I did that because I wanted us to improve our marriage and to be more involved with them. But she declined the offer,” he said.
The 43-year-old added that he believes he has "done enough to try fix things" but they have "reached a point of no return".
"Losing my family is not a beautiful thing... I did what I could until the last minute."

DJ Black Coffee has broken his silence on the much-publicised divorce from his TV personality wife Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa: “Whenever I was wrong, I admitted I was wrong. Despite pouring his heart out, Black Coffee's comments have upset many social media users. The DJ was trending on Twitter all day on Tuesday.
"Imagine, being married to someone and spending 10 years of your life with them, only for them to break up with you via email tell you to move out with the kids," one Twitter user wrote.
Another added: "How is it fair to ask your wife and kids to leave their family home n go rent a place? Is it a way of trying 2 sort things? HOW????? #BLACKCOFFEE."

Guys let's be honest and admit that this generation has ruined the true essence of marriages. We're more excited about the wedding than we are about the actual marriage. Marriage is no longer the final commitment of love. We ruined it. Kuphelile ngayo. #blackcoffee

I don't know but for me this statement "even Beyonce got cheated on who are you" annoys me. I'm a damn queen in my own castle, a queen in my lane. I will not tolerate being cheated on because Beyonce tolerates it. That statement will get y'all sick honestly#enhle #BLACKCOFFEE

Imagine being evicted from your matrimonial home with kids by someone who's hardly in the country. Why didn't he move out and find space alone. #blackcoffee pic.twitter.com/PPJLeBfWB1
