Ayanda Thabethe: 'Zoleka Mandela's post really broke my heart'
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Ayanda says a parent's biggest fear is their children growing up without them.
Zoleka Mandela's emotional post about her latest cancer diagnosis has touched the hearts of many South Africans, including Ayanda Thabethe.
The mother of six revealed this week that she has Bone Metastasis - which occurs when cancer spreads from its original site to the bones.
Zoleka is a two-time breast cancer survivor. "What do I tell my children? How do I tell them that this time around, I may not get to live my life as a survivor? How do I tell them everything will be okay when it’s not? I’m dying … I don’t want to die," the 42-year-old wrote in a lengthy post.
Ayanda, who gave birth to her first child in March, says she is praying for a miracle for the 'When Hope Whispers' author.
"When you become a parent, I think the biggest fear becomes having your children grow without you or losing them that’s why this Zoleka Mandela post really broke my heart. Praying for a miracle for her," she tweeted.

Scores of people have been sending Zoleka well wishes.
"Cancer remains my most feared illness. That thing is a thief, it never goes away. Sstrength to Zoleka Mandela," one Twitter user wrote.
Another user added: "I'm so heartbroken for Zoleka Mandela. This must be devastating for her. To survive cancer 2x then have it back for the 3rd time? That time you have a newborn baby."
Zoleka gave birth to her daughter, Zingce Zobuhle Mandela, in April. Her baby girl had to spend a few extra days in the hospital.
"Dear Diary, my baby finally made it out of ICU … She was incubated from birth and I still don’t know how I have managed to keep it together for the sake of my other daughters, having to be discharged from hospital without her and having to leave her there … I have never cried so much. She’s home and I’m going to stop this post right here because I can feel the tears welling up in my eyes again … Instead … I’ll end it with, I’m so blessed and grateful to have birthed my 6th miracle," Zoleka wrote.

I just saw Zoleka Mandela's post about her having bone metatsis (cancer) after fighting breast cancer for 10 years 🥺 We have to be thankful each day for good health, people are really going through the most behind closed doors. #bekind
