Another twist in the Britney Spears conservatorship case

Britney Spears is set to speak to a Los Angeles court about her conservatorship.
A lawyer for Britney Spears has told a Los Angeles court that she would like to "address the court directly" in her conservatorship case, according to The New York Times.
The popstar was placed under court-ordered guardianship in 2008 following a public breakdown.
Her father, Jamie Spears, was named her conservator, but the singer wants him removed.
The '...Baby One More Time' hitmaker's fans started the #FreeBritney movement in the hopes that she would be released from the 13-year conservatorship.

The Los Angeles court ruled this week that Britney will be able to directly speak to the judge in June. Britney's lawyer did not specify what she wanted to talk about.
Britney has previously said that she will not perform again if her father remains in control of her career and finances.
She has been on a break since early 2019.
Jamie is currently a co-conservator with Jodi Montgomery - whom Britney wants to take over permanently.
Britney remains positive despite her conservatorship woes. She regularly posts fun videos of herself dancing on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Britney's mother Lynne is also coming to her defence. Lynne recently filed court papers objecting to Jamie paying for $890,000 in legal fees from Britney's estate.
Jamie hit back at the claims.
“Lynne Spears is not acting in the best interests of the Conservatee," Page Six quoted him as saying in court papers.
Jamie further accused Lynne of “exploiting” Britney's pain and trauma for profit in the past. He referenced the 2008 book Lynne wrote titled, 'Through The Storm'.
Lynne reportedly revealed in the memoir that Britney started drinking at 13 and lost her virginity at 14. The book also alleged that Britney began experimenting with drugs when she was 15.
Jamie has repeatedly stated that he only has Britney's best interests at heart. He told CNN in 2020 that Britney "needs special care and protection".
