AKA happier than ever after Bonang Matheba break-up
Updated | By Lifestyle reporter
“I’ve never been happier than I am right now, and I owe some of this happiness to the break-up," says AKA.
AKA is no longer mourning his break-up with Bonang Matheba.
Speaking to Drum magazine, the 'Beyoncé' rapper says he did miss Bonang after their split, but he is over that chapter of his life.
"I definitely missed her – I missed being with her and laughing with her and when I realised she didn’t miss me, I had to let go. She made me not miss her," he said.

The 30-year-old admitted that he turned to alcohol and partying after they parted ways.
"I had to experience the pain and get over the hurt... I drank a lot of alcohol and partied a lot to try to get over the hurt and now I’m okay. In fact, I’m doing just great," he told the publication.
AKA says he has "never been happier" than he is right now.
"I owe some of this happiness to the break-up. I’m calmer now. I know my character, I know who I am, and I know what I have time and patience for.”

As for why he and Bonang broke up in the first place, the rapper declined to give any details.
He says he "will not take people through why we broke up" because it needs to stay between them.
"I don’t think it’s right to share everything," he said.

AKA is a lot more mature these days, and his new album, 'Touch My Blood', is proof of that.
"The album focuses on my thoughts and emotions. It’s unguarded. I wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable and share what’s been happening in my life," he told Drum.
