SA reaches 24 million jabs milestone against Covid-19

The Department of Health has reached the 24 million mark of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in South Africa.
This is either the one-shot Johnson & Johnson or the first of the two-dose Pfizer vaccine.
A total of 24 082 686 Covid-19 vaccines doses have been administered in SA after 131 206 vaccines were administered on Monday.
A total of 13 458 962 individuals are now fully vaccinated.
This is 33.82% of the country's adult population.
When it comes to new coronavirus cases, 136 new infections were recorded in the latest 24-hour period.
This represents a 0.9% positivity rate.
A further five Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89 489.
The majority of new cases comes from Gauteng at 43%, followed by Western Cape with 16% and KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 13%.
There has been an increase of 18 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours with 3 561 people currently admitted in hospitals.
