The South African Revenue Service has collected just over R1.2 trillion in the 2017 / 2018 financial year.
Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene earlier briefed on revenue collection for the last financial year in Pretoria.
An amount of R234.3-billion was refunded to taxpayers.
"The preliminary result is very close within the 0.06% [R0.7-billion] to the forecasted estimate of R1.217-billion announced by the minister in the Budget Speech 2018. It represents the growth of R72.4-billion which is 6.3% compared to last year's revenue," Nene said.
