Elderly woman in Pinetown home attack dies
Police are now investigating a case of murder - after an elderly woman - who was shot during a house robbery in Pinetown on Monday night died in hospital.
The seventy-two-year-old, who was a tenant, was attacked by three suspects who entered the property in Padfield Park.
Police say the property owner heard her screams and rushed to her aid.
The home owner shot two of the robbers - killing one and injuring another. Ritchie was shot during the exchange of gunfire.
The third robber fled the scene in a getaway car. Police are still searching for him.

Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele, says the woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
"A 72-year-old woman that was shot during a house robbery in the Pinetown area, New Germany, passed away as a result of the gunshot wound she sustained in the abdomen. A house robbery, attempted murder and an inquest case has been opened against the suspect. So the case of attempted murder will be changed to murder," Mbhele said.
