Shawn Mendes achieves two big music milestones

Shawn Mendes has two more reasons to celebrate this week. His chart topping single, 'There's Nothing Holing Me Back', has been certified platinum, while his 2015 track, 'Stitches', just achieved six times platinum status.

He received the certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Monday. 

That's not the only good news the 19-year-old received this week. 

'There's Nothing Holding Me Back' jumped two places to reach number one on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart.

The single is his second number one on the chart, after 'Stitches' achieved the same feat two years ago. 

Shawn now joins Chris Brown, Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera as the only artists to have multiple songs at No.1 on the chart before the age of 20. 

'There's Nothing Holding Me Back' is currently at number two on the Coca-Cola Top 40 chart.
