Rihanna's funny response to dissing Diplo's song
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Rihanna has responded to Diplo's claim that she said one of his songs sounded like airport reggae music.
Diplo made headlines this week after revealing that Rihanna has been turning down his requests for a potential collaboration, and likened one of his songs to a reggae song you would hear in the airport. Ouch!
Speaking to GQ Style, the producer said it was hard getting Rihanna's vocals on a track.
"I just want her on a Major Lazer song. She's like the one artist that we can't ever get."
Diplo says he has tried to work with Rihanna in the past, but she described one of his songs as "airport reggae".
"I played her “Lean On.” She was like, I don't do house music. I face-palmed so hard on that one. Another time I had a session with her, and Future was also invited. The Weeknd was there. Metro Boomin was there before anybody knew who he was. I was so contact high. Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, Yo, G, I'm leaving unless you let me play her a song. So I played her a song. And she was like, This sounds like a reggae song at an airport. [laughs] I was like, I'm gonna go kill myself," he told the publication.
Diplo added that while he would love to work with her, if Major Lazer and Rihanna's paths do not cross, he really doesn't care.
The Barbados beauty got wind of Diplo's comments, and had a hilarious response.
She shared a screenshot of a story about his comments, and captioned the image: "#DutyFree [laughing emojis] My bad @diplo."
We understand why Diplo is eager to work with Riri.
Her latest collaboration with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller, 'Wild Thoughts', is number one around the world. It also holds the top spot on the Coca-Cola Top 40 chart.
