The nominees for the AfriMusic Song Contest have been released and South Africa’s house music star Holly Rey has made it onto the list.
The SAMA award-winning artist is nominated for the 'African Songwriter of the Year' award for her song ‘Fire’.
“Since we released the EP ‘You’ late last year, the crew’s been talking about how we’re going to get our sound out there in Africa. We were just talking about what our next move should be when we heard the news from AfriMusic 2020,” Holly Rey said in a statement.
She also took to Instagram to share her excitement for the nomination.
"We have been nominated for the @afrimusicsc for my songwriting in my track Fire. It’s such an honour to get recognition for your craft as an artist amongst so many incredible songwriters across the African Continent! I am so excited about this nomination!!!"
