Black Coffee raises over R70,000 for Solidarity Fund to fight coronavirus

The funds were raised through his 'Home Brewed 001' streaming show which he hosted over the weekend.
DJ Black Coffee is using his music to help raise funds to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The house music legend hosted a live streaming show called 'Home Brewed 001' on Saturday.

"After weeks of isolation + reflecting, I've decided that I will commit to a residency of livestream sessions...but this time, while fundraising and building awareness to aid different charities," he wrote on Instagram.
"These foundations along with you and I are together in the fight against COVID-19, healing our loved ones, supporting the medical staff on the frontline and empowering freedom to live our lives to the fullest once again. For this first time, the whole planet is united... #WeAreOne . For Episode 001, I've created a @gofundme page to collect funds for @solidarityfundrsa who aims to prevent, detect, care and support those affected by this evil virus," he added.

During his presidential speech on March 23, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the formation of the Solidarity Fund to care for individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. He asked businesses and organisations to donate to the fund.
Black Coffee has managed to raise over R70,000.

"Blown away by all of the love and generosity following yesterday’s stream," Black Coffee wrote on Instagram.
"For Home Brewed 001, we were able to raise over 76,000 ZAR towards @solidarityfundrsa," he added.
Black Coffee has encouraged fans to continue donating to the fund.
"Thank YOU! I’ll be streaming again next Saturday to continue raising money for the cause...we’re still accepting donations," he said.
