Gospel lovers are in for a treat. Kelly Khumalo is working on a gospel project just in time for Easter.
Is Kelly Khumalo leaving afro-pop for gospel music? That is the question on everyone's lips after the star announced that she is working on a new gospel project.
She revealed on Instagram that the project will be called 'From A God To A King'. Kelly added that she will host a concert for the project annually.
"I’m so delighted to announce my first annual #GospelExplosionConcert," she wrote on Instagram.
The concert will take place during the Easter weekend.
The singer said this has been her dream for the longest time.
"This has been a dream of mine for the longest time and finally God Is making it happen. A first of its kind where all Gods children from all walks of life will gather under one roof to praise and worship HIM," she added.
In 2020, Kelly teamed up with gospel giant, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, and released the song 'Esphambanweni'. The single topped gospel charts.
The song is a hit with her fans and Kelly often sings the gospel track at her shows.
However, she has previously stated that she does not want to be classified as a gospel artist.
“I have not made a move to gospel music. I have always had a gospel song on all my albums. I grew up in church. God has been a very significant part of my life. I am not a gospel artist and I don't think I will ever be a gospel artist. I am just an artist who sings gospel," she told Tshisa Live.
