Camila Cabello released her highly-anticipated album, 'Familia', on Friday. The 12-track album features songs with Ed Sheeran, Willow Smith,  Yotuel, and María Becerra.

Camila started writing the album shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. The 25-year-old told People magazine that she was not in a good place mentally when she began working on the new release.

"I was cripplingly anxious and was in the worst mental health state ever. And then I took a break at the beginning of the pandemic. I started doing therapy [and] trying to feel better," she told the publication.

The 'Bam Bam' hitmaker added that she wanted the album to reflect her true feelings.

"For me it was, if this process doesn't help me in feeling better, and if it's not me being honest and vulnerable and unfiltered, I don't really see how this is going to happen. That was my intention, was just to be myself, whatever that looked like at the time."

Camila took to Instagram on Friday to say she is proud of her new album.

"This album means so much to me. The journey of making it completely changed - and not to be dramatic - but saved my life. I started this album at a really shi**y mental health point. And the process of making it and being vulnerable and being honest about my experiences... changed my life," she said.

A song on Camila's new album features lyrics about her former Fifth Harmony group members.

"I don't blame the girls for how it went down…" she sings on 'Psychofreak', which features Willow Smith. The group split in 2016 after Camila decided to pursue a solo career.

There seemed to be bad blood between them, with Fifth Harmony dissing Camilla during their performance at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

But Camila says they are now in a good place and occasionally DM each other on social media. Not only did Camila drop her 'Familia' album on Friday, but she also released the video for 'Psychofreak'.
