Three surprisingly dangerous items you have in your home
Updated | By Poelano Malema
These items should probably not be kept in your house... ever, unless of course you take precautions.
There are many things that we have in our houses that can be very dangerous - especially if we are negligent.
Below we take a look at three things that can be very dangerous if kept in your house:
Gas
With the high cost of electricity, many people are now opting to use gas to try and save money. Even though using gas stoves, gas heaters, and fans is great, one should always make sure that the gas never leaks. Gas is flammable, so if there's a flame or a spark in the area of a leak, it can cause a fire or explosion which can end up killing you.
Sharp objects
Sharp knives, scissors or any other sharp utensils should never be left lying around. Attackers can use these objects to harm you. So the best thing to do is to put them in a place where they are not easy to reach. According to the SAPS Annual Report for 2016/17, knives were used in 36% of murder cases, while firearms were used in 31% of cases. Other sharp objects made up 11%.
Dangerous toys
Mojo.com released the top ten most dangerous toys that could lead to death, and among them are; Hannah Montana Pop Star Card Game, Sky Rangers Park Flyer Radio-Controlled Airplane, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Fingerprint Examination Kit, Moon Shoes, and some Toy Guns. Although all the toys were recalled, to this day, if parents are not careful, they might find themselves buying their children deadly toys. Any toys that could choke your child or any toys that are sharp should never be bought, as they could end up harming your child. Rather only buy toys that are not harmful in any way - and always read the warning labels!
