Forget your heels, apparently there are many benefits to walking barefoot.
Are you looking for natural ways to ensure that you have a good night’s sleep or want to decrease your chances of getting sick? Then walking barefoot might just be the answer according to a study published in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health.
The study found that walking barefoot improved sleep, PMS, immune system activity and response, stress, heart rate variability and increased energy levels. It was also found to lower the chances of getting diseases such as; chronic muscle and joint pain, asthmatic and respiratory conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, and hypertension.
This is not the first research that has found that walking barefoot has health benefits.
“There is growing research showing that this connection to the Earth's surface plays a vital role in preventing disease and offers a host of benefits from improved sleep to pain relief. The problem, of course, is that while humans have historically spent much of their days with their bare skin next to the Earth (both while walking and sleeping, including on animal skins, which still allow electrons to enter the body), today this vital connection has been lost,” reports Mercola website.
Dr. Richard Gerhauser, the author of ‘7 Steps To Natural Health’ also supports the finding of the study in his video ‘The Health Benefits of Walking Barefoot’.
“Have you ever heard that inflammation seems to be the main cause of many diseases, especially the ones that are exploding like cancer, diabetes?” He says a simple, and natural way to reduce inflammation is by walking barefoot. However, he advises people to start with baby steps. He says walking long distances barefoot might cause other health issues.
