How to save money on your wedding day
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Your wedding doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg.
With the wedding season upon us, many people will be tying the knot. However, there is no denying that weddings can be quiet costly. Sadly, some people find themselves getting into debt just to have that perfect wedding.
But this doesn't have to be the case.
If you are one of those people who will be getting married, we look at ways in which you can save money on your wedding bill.
Consider e-invitations
Printing invitations and mailing them off can cost a lot of money. Rather opt for sending your invitations via email.
Hire your wedding attire
It's every bride and groom's wish to look gorgeous on their wedding day. However, wedding attire can be expensive. One way to save some money is to hire your attire, rather than buying them. This could save you a couple of thousand of Rands in the end.
Compare venue packages
Some venues offer packages which cover all aspects of your wedding, rather than just the venue itself. Shop around for the best package.
Have bigger tables
The good thing about having bigger tables is that you will need fewer centerpieces and tablecloths.
Only serve cake
Serving a full meal can be costly. So depending on how long your wedding will be, it might be best to just offer your wedding guests cake and drinks.
Don't have a huge menu
If you decide to offer more than just cake, make sure your menu is simple, yet nice. There is really no need to offer lots of different salads, meats, and desserts.
Don't have a full bar
Instead of a full bar, offer just beer, wine, and a signature cocktail.
Negotiate
Lastly, ask for discounts. You'll be surprised at how many people are willing to drop their prices if you negotiate with them.
