The Winter break is upon us and we wanted to compile a list of things you can do with the kids.

Of course, when it comes to taking the kids out, it can be stressful. Besides the cost factor, there is the stress of finding kid-friendly places.

This is why we came up with some ideas for you.

1. Umgeni River Bird Park

This has always been a great destination for parents as it is interactive and kid-friendly. Housing a collection of more than 800 birds and 220 species from around the world, the Umgeni River Bird Park is one of the best bird parks in South Africa.

It is located at 490 Riverside Road, Durban North. If you would like to enquire further, you can reach them on 031 322 5750.

2. Minitown

Located on the Snell Parade along the Durban beachfront, Minitown is a great experience for kids and adults alike.

And besides the miniature creations that will absolutely amaze you, the price is just as attractive.

Children between 2 and 13 years pay R30 and Adults pay R40. Minitown has been in existence since 1969 and is a non-profit organisation.

3. Giba Gorge

Giba Gorge is a wonderful outdoor day for the family, and we all know getting the kids out in nature is always a good thing.

The Dirt School is a great activity for young bikers who are between the ages of 8-12. Besides the biking, there is a gallery and a host of bird watching to do out in the open.

You will be the best momma or daddy on the block if you decide to take the kids here.

What started as a farm has grown into a space that families can visit and there is something for everyone. From mini golf to ziplining, an art house, candle dipping, and more.

This is the perfect idea for the kids, and each activity is priced individually. Check out more information on their website: www.pigglywiggly.co.za.

5. Phezulu Safari Park

Let your heart beat to the drum of Africa and visit this majestic park. The Phezulu Safari Park overlooks the extraordinary Valley of a Thousand Hills. Enjoy a guided 4×4 game drive through the Phezulu Conservation Area.

With Zulu dance shows, segway tours, and game drives, it will be a day of fun and excitement. Plus a great cultural experience for the whole family.
