Q&A with Jane Linley-Thomas

Jane Linley-Thomas is your 10am to 2pm weekday host on East Coast Gold. She's been with the East Coast Radio family for over a decade but did you know that she was born in East London and that as a child, she wanted to be an actress when she grew up? Get to know Jane a little better in our Q&A with her here...
1. Where were you born?
East London
2. What do you love about radio as a medium?
Since I was a little girl
and listened to ECR on the way to school, I loved how radio was so live,
entertaining, engaged and inclusive.
3. When and where do you listen to East Coast Gold?
ALL THE TIME. As a family it plays from the breakfast table, in the car and wherever we are in our home. We have a portable speaker that moves where we do.
4. Who has influenced you the most in your life?
My mom and dad. I am so blessed to come from a warm and loving home. My folks have been married for over 40 years and have shown us how they do life and we use that as our backboard and gauge in our work, relationships, with our kids and at home.
5. If you were a musician, who would you most like to collaborate with?
Lady Gaga. I love everything about her from her authenticity, courage and her kind-hearted rebellion.
6. When you were little, what did you want to be?
Either a cashier or an actress!
7. What motivates you to get up every morning?
Purpose. KindnessCan has changed my life. Getting to do light work is one of my life's greatest gifts. I greet the day with a grateful heart and the desire to love and connect through kindness.
8. If you had to be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose?
Survivor. JOKES! Imagine me in the sand! Anything to do with interior design.
9. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
India
10. Where did you grow up?
Durban.
11. Toilet paper, over or under?
Over!
12. Were your parents strict?
Yes. Manners and respect were a non negotiable. Firm but fair.
13. What do you most like about getting older?
Insight. Turning 40 has been such a revelation. I feel like I have come home.
14. What book are you currently reading?
The 5am Club by Robin
Sharma.
