Five fabulous fashion trends of the 1970s
Calling all fashionistas... let's go down memory lane by looking at five fashion trends that ruled in the 1970s.
The 1970s inspired so many of the fashion trends we have today.
It also produced some of the greatest fashion icons such as Jane Birkin and Jean Shrimpton.
Let us look at some of the biggest fashion trends of that era.
Bellbottoms
Bellbottom pants have legs that become wider below the knee.
They were an extremely popular fashion trend during the 1970s.

High-waisted jeans
High-waisted jeans were one of the most popular styles of the 1970s.
Bragvintage.com reports that the first high waisted jean came into style in the 1940s when Levi's produced jeans for women working on farms and in factories for the war effort.
To date, these jeans are still fashionable.

Platform shoes
Platform shoes were the norm in the 1970s and could be worn by both males and females.
The shoes have a very thick sole.
They add height to the person wearing them.

Large collars / collar-over-the lapel
Men in the 1970s wore the collar-over-the lapel as a fashion statement.
This look became popular among celebrities, the likes of Paul McCartney, the Bee Gees, and Jack Nicholson were big fans.

Love beads and mood rings
The mood ring was one of the biggest fashion trends of the 1970s alongside love beads. The beads signify peace and love.
