The 1980s were a big decade, especially when it came to fashion and music. It was all about self-expression and being bold. Which of these hairstyles should be brought back? (Scroll down to vote!)
Mullet hairstyle
The mullet hairstyle was so popular in the 80s. This style is identified by hair being cut shorter at the front, top, and sides, and then left to grow longer at the back.
Celebrities such as Rod Stewart and David Bowie rocked the mullet as a signature look.
Tall mohawk
The mohawk, a style where the sides of the head are shaven and then there are long strips of hair in the center, was very popular in the 1980s.
According to Ancient Origins, 'the Mohawk hairstyle has been attributed to the Native American Mohawk tribe, whose actual name was Kanien’kehá:ka, who once lived in what is now New York State and parts of Canada'.
Jheri curls
Many African Americans loved the Jheri curl, a permanent wave hairstyle, especially in the 1980s.
Puffed-up hairstyles
Puffy hair was a thing in the 1980s! The bigger, the better.
It was cool and funky and added a touch of sophistication to the overall look of women in the 80s.
Side ponytail
The ponytail was the go-to hairstyle for many women in the 80s. It's a simple fuss-free hairstyle that complements any outfit, but back in the 1980s the side ponytail was all the rage.
