Tribute: Celebrating Barry White on what would have been 78th birthday

East Coast Gold remembers the two-time Grammy Award winner and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, on what would have been his birthday.
Barry White was born on 12 September 1944 in Galveston, Texas, USA. Although popularly known as Barry White, the singer's birth name is Barrence Eugene Carter.
The young Barry loved to sing Gospel music with his mother and taught himself how to play the piano.
He broke onto the music scene in the 1960s.

At the age of 16, the young Barry recorded his first record with a music group called the Upfronts. His big hit was only released in 1973.
According to IMDB, between the year 1973 and 1974, he sold $16-million worth of records.
Not only is he a singer but also a songwriter, piano player, actor, and producer.
He has been labeled the boss of bedroom soul music.
His romantic disco hits earned him two Grammy nomination.
