LISTEN: What you need to know about COSATU's planned shutdown

Should we worry about the national shutdown?

COSATU is planning a national shutdown on Wednesday, 24 August. 

Is there a reason to panic? Should people go to work on Wednesday?

That's not all that's happening though, as another trade union also wants to protest on the same day.

According to IOL, two of the biggest trade union federations, COSATU and the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU), plan to meet in the hopes of a joint venture.

The unions have cited the rising cost of living, loadshedding, high fuel prices, and unemployment as the reasons for the national shutdown.
