Kearsney College Choir stars while on European tour

KZN's talent is going global!
The Kearsney College Choir performed really well during their international tour over the school holidays.
The school sent 53 members of the choir to the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna, Austria.

The tour fell within the two-week school holiday period and they returned to Durban having won the 'Male Choir' section!
The tour was held back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The kids performed at the Golden Hall, which is Vienna’s famous concert venue.
The school performed extremely well, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd during their final performance.

Some of the songs that the choir sang were El Hombre Armado (medieval melody), Trinklied, Awakening the Ancestors, Khoydt Zaychyk (Ukrainian lullaby), Sucker (Jonas Brothers), and Sab’ Inganono (Afraid of the Cannons) - a South African song by the late Johnny Clegg.
The award was the latest achievement added to the already long list of international awards the school has achieved for choral singing over the years. To find out all about the awards the school choir has won, click here.

Kearsney headmaster Elwyn van den Aardweg was extremely proud of the efforts of the boys and staff.
"The resilience of the boys and staff in immediately returning after this absence to a world-class level of delivery is to be celebrated," said Elwyn.
