Learners in '4/20' video suspended for smoking cannabis at school

The video with 36 learners recently went viral on social media.
On the April 20 every year, cannabis consumers worldwide celebrate cannabis by smoking it or taking edibles.
With social media making communities smaller and everything accessible, 36 learners at Leondale High School shared their video smoking the drug online.

The large group is seen doing this on campus and it eventually went viral.

This video eventually reached Gauteng's Department of Education.
Department spokesperson, Steve Mabona, shared that a disciplinary hearing was held at the school on Monday and parents were called in.
An investigation is underway into the incident regarding how this all took place without even one teacher's knowledge or awareness.

"We are really concerned and dissatisfied at the ongoing consumption of these ‘space cakes’ where learners become learners sick and are often hospitalised. We urge learners to refrain from purchasing or consuming unknown substances that put their health and lives at risk," said Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
