Freak waves on Durban's North Beach caught on camera

The unusual high tide on North Beach was captured by shocked witnesses who shared their images on social media.
Whilst it seemed like the usual relaxed Sunday for most others who planned to enjoy their day on Durban's North Beach were stunned by the freak waves that emerged.
The extremely high wave that tragically swept away a seven year old little girl is known as a rogue wave. These types of waves are particularly dangerous as they are unexpected and can be extremely dangerous.

The waves washed over the North Beach Pier flooding most of the area.
