No matter how riotous and exciting the Royal Show gets, we will never let you fall out of step with the times, dates, events, attractions, food stands and exhibits that you can catch at the Show! From animals to music to funfairs, we have got you covered with a super speedy recap of everything you need to know about the Royal Show!
1. Animals
The showgrounds host thousands of animals every year including poultry, rabbits, cattle, horses, gods, sheep and goats in a variety of competitions, shows and exhibits. You can go from watching a sheep shearing demonstration to following the excitement of the Equestrian Tentpegging and then a Cattle show competition in just a few hours!
2. Music
The ECR Royal Rock concert will be held on the 27th May 2022, Saturday, where show goers can expect local legends Prime Circle, Wonderboom, Cantrel, Fear of Falling and Jacques Moolman to wow the crowds with their funk and groove. Want to meet the bands? Keep an eye on our social media platforms to win a chance to meet the band.
The RSG Afrikaans Musiek Konsert will feature various popular artists such as Elvis Blue, Demi Lee, Pietman Geldenhuys and Coffee Snobs. These Afrikaans musical legends will take to the stage to showcase the best in local talent for your enjoyment. The RSG Afrikaans Musiek Konsert will take place on the 5th June 2022, Sunday.
The Royal Hindvani Extravaganza will be hosted by Hindvani community radio station, showcasing the best in dance talent! Catch this event on the 4th June 2022!
3. Funfair
Happyland Amusements presents a joyous funfair for kids of all ages to enjoy throughout the Royal Show. Tickets can be purchased at the funfair and rides take between 1 to 5 tickets per ride.
4. Thrills for All
The Royal Show 2022 will see a number of thrilling events and activities taking place for the exclusive delight of show goers.
Come test your limits at the Bag Drop by Jumping (Free-falling) from a maximum height of 18 meters. Cost of jump is R50.00 for one jump, R180.00 for 4 jumps and R400.00 for unlimited jumps on the day.
The Jungle Rush FMX will thrill show goers with amazing freestyle motocross tricks at 13:30 and then again at 15:00 on the 4th June 2022 in the main arena!
The Royal Show will host The Witness Wheels Motor Show and Sound-Off consisting of a Sound Off Competition, Show and Shine Competition and Dyno. This will take place on 27th May 2022, Friday, from 13:00 to 22:00.
The KZN leg of the Toyota SA National Young Auctioneer Competition is taking place on the 30th May 2022, Monday. The competition was launched to promote the livestock auctioneering profession among young people in South Africa!
An Indigenous Sheep and Goat Auction will be held this year to promote the resilient indigenous breeds that could change the face of the South African sheep and goat meat industry for the better. The auction takes place on Saturday the 4th June 2022 in Ring 1 of the Sheep and Goat Section.
Royal Symphony Concert: KZN Youth Orchestra and The Wykeham Collegiate Senior Wind Ensemble will dazzle show goers with moving classical performances under the bright African skies. Catch the symphony on Sunday, 29th May 2022 at 11:00 in the Main Arena!
5. Snacks and Treats
Everything you need to know about this year’s Royal Show is not complete until you have the low-down on snacks! Everything from fried chips, grilled marinates chicken and sticky ribs down to spicy wings, pancakes, samosas and dried fruit will be on sale! These and many more yummy snack foods will be available for everyone’s delight.
6. Food Delights
Food of every kind will be available for enjoyment in the Royal Food Market. Herbs, health products, catering services, NPOs raising funds, coffee, tea, grilled munchies and fried confections will suit just about any palette that walks into the Royal Show.
