Pick n Pay dismisses claims of mass COVID-19 outbreak at Pavilion store
Supermarket group Pick n Pay has dismissed claims made on social media that 27 staff members at their Pavilion Shopping Centre branch tested positive for COVID-19.
They did confirm, however, one positive case which saw the temporary closure of the store on Wednesday.

In a statement sent to Newswatch, Pick n Pay says the entire store was deep cleaned and sanitised – before they reopened their doors this morning.
Refuting claims of more cases - they've added those who were in close contact with the patient were immediately self-quarantined while health officials tested the rest of the staff as a precaution.
The supermarket says their staff continues to follow strict hygiene rules and are screened daily before they start work.
"The health and safety of our customers and staff is a top priority. We are cleaning our stores even more rigorously, including sanitising all till points after each transaction and sanitising our trolleys frequently. Our stores have various preventative measures, including Perspex screens at all till points and all staff have face masks.
"Our staff follow strict hygiene rules and practices, including regular handwashing, and hand sanitiser is readily available for all staff and customers in stores. Our staff are screened for symptoms before they start work," the statement read.
