KZN e-hailing drivers hope demand grows in Level 3
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Drivers at a ride-hailing service in KwaZulu-Natal are hoping Level 3 lockdown brings more work opportunities for them.
Newswatch spoke to two Taxify drivers who say their daily income fell by 80% under Level 5 and 4 of the lockdown.
Wandile Mhlongo – who's been with the company for over three years – says before the coronavirus outbreak, most of his money came from transporting students.
He hopes business picks up again when some students return to campuses next week.
"Even though I know things will not go back to normal because it's not yet Level 1, so now I am hoping that most of the people are going to go back to work and things might be better than Level 4."

Another driver, Zakhele Gumbi says so far, he's only made enough for petrol.
"Petrol prices have gone down, it's a positive thing, but at the same time we can't do much about it because there are no people moving around. So we are hoping that under Level 3 maybe they can still keep the fuel price low."
