The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department has temporarily shut down Apollo Secondary School in Chatsworth, south of Durban, after a teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

It is understood that the educator reported to the school last week in preparation for the return of matric students this week.
The school's governing body says, the teacher fell ill on Thursday evening and did not return to the school since.

KZN Education HOD, Enock Nzama says health officials visited the school on Tuesday morning and took a decision to close it down.
"We are testing all the teachers as well as the learners that happened to meet the teacher, especially because we have matriculants. The school is closed already," he says.
