Year In Review: #MentalHealthCheck - It all started with the words, 'Are you okay?'
Updated | By Stacey and J Sbu
It was the show that started off with three simple words that showed KZN a different side to the normally energetic and carefree duo of Stacey and J Sbu.
Listen below to hear the Mental Health Check In with Stacey and J Sbu from August below:
In light of COVID-19 and the many devastations that this pandemic has caused, Stacey and J Sbu decided to have a mental health check in, with not only themselves, but with the rest of KZN.

Little did Stacey and J Sbu know prior to the show that by being vulnerable and sharing, it would not only provide healing for themselves, but for many listeners who were looking for an outlet.
Stacey and J Sbu wanted to encourage a safe space for the listeners to share their struggles, reminding them that they are not alone and that there is help should they need it. Before they opened up the lines, it was Stacey who very bravely opened up with the rest of KZN, tearfully so.
I am not in a great space, obviously on the show we are always sounding happy but that is not our reality. We have a relationship with you over the radio, but when the show is over reality hits. We love what we do but the stuff happening in the background is real in our personal lives. I would rate myself a 4 out of 10 with my emotional health today.- Stacey Norman
It was one of the very few times that J Sbu and the rest of KZN visibly saw and heard Stacey Norman get really emotional. Immediately after sharing, a flood gate of messages and voice notes came through the WhatsApp line where listeners shared in Stacey's mental state, because they could relate.
To help navigate this conversation, the team then called on Dr Khanyile, who is a shero for Mental Health Matters, an initiative that she is the vice president of.
Dr Khanyile helped Stacey and J Sbu and KZN with some practical things that those feeling depressed or low can do. Listen to that podcast below if you missed it:
