Wait, what? Waiter tipped R35 on a R1,015 bill!
Updated | By East Coast Radio / Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
According to the Safari Guide website, it is standard practice to tip wait staff 10% to 20% of the total of your bill.
We recently saw a TikTok by a man who shared his anger regarding a Cape Town restaurant including a tip to his bill.
It seemed it was a fun night out for the family who enjoyed things like starters, milkshakes, burgers, and sirloin steaks, to name a few of the items.
The poster was unhappy that the restaurant was adding the standard 10% service charge to the total.
He complained that it should be his prerogative when it comes to tipping and called this 'unethical'.
"This is robbery, restaurants should be paying their own staff and not be making clients pay tips to cover their costs. This is unlawful and unethical."

I've stopped going there for years and just got reminded of why I'm right #robbery #tips #resturants #poor #tasteless #disgusting #clients #centurycity #capetown #service ♬ Babel - Gustavo Bravetti
His video, which has garnered more than 640,000 views, has obviously gained traction on TikTok.
Many people expressed their feelings towards tipping as a practice. One person in particular picked on the fact that this customer struck off the 10% tip that was added to his total and instead gave the waiter R35 when his total bill amounted to R1,015.

Chane: "I always tip 10% or more, i once was a waiter and you get these people who don't even have the decency to tip you after delivering excellent service."
